The right to free expression in the legislature is essential. Mr. Gandhi

The BJP MP Nishikant Dubey filed a privilege motion against the Congress leader, which the Lok Sabha Administration notified him about.

According to sources, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has submitted a thorough response to the notice the Lok Sabha Administration sent him over a privilege motion Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, had filed against him.

He cited both the Lok Sabha rule book and Kaul & Shakdhar, which lists earlier examples, to support his claim that Mr. Dubey’s notice is unworkable under Lok Sabha rules and procedure in the reply, which was many pages long.

In the Parliament, Mr. Gandhi stressed that “freedom of expression” is crucial, saying that “we can scarcely call ourselves democratic if we can’t raise topics of public importance in Parliament.” Additionally, he called the accusations made by Mr. Dubey “vague and unspecific.”

He had provided “proof” to support his assertions, including information from the Hindenburg report and newspaper clippings, in a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla dated February 10 in response to several of his remarks being omitted.

Mr. Dubey’s motion is still pending admission. The decision to accept or deny the motion is now in the Speaker’s hands. It will be forwarded to the Lok Sabha’s Privilege Committee after being allowed.
