Piers Morgan Sparks Controversy by Revealing Royals’ Identity from Bombshell Book

Piers Morgan is facing backlash for disclosing the identities of two senior royals allegedly expressing concerns about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie’s skin color. Morgan named them on his Talk TV show and later shared the information on social media, reigniting a heated public debate.

The revelation stems from Omid Scobie’s book, “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival,” where the royals’ identities were inadvertently exposed in Dutch copies. Following this, Xander Publishers claimed the US had requested a halt in book sales in Holland, prompting speculation and controversy.

While Scobie refrained from naming the individuals in the final edition due to libel laws, Morgan’s disclosure has triggered a wave of reactions. Royal sources cited “utter dismay” at Buckingham Palace, with considerations of potential legal actions against the disclosure.

Piers Morgan defended his actions, stating, “Because I don’t believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family.” He emphasised the need for evidence and context before drawing conclusions about the alleged remarks. However, his decision to reveal the names has intensified the ongoing narrative surrounding Archie’s birth and potential racial remarks.

Royal commentators Angela Levin and Richard Fitzwilliams criticised Morgan’s disclosure. Levin called it “unnecessary, spiteful, and nasty,” while Fitzwilliams emphasised the seriousness of the circumstances, stating that Morgan “should not have named them.”

Meghan previously shared during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 that a family member had raised concerns about Archie’s skin color. However, the book claims Meghan named two individuals in private letters exchanged with King Charles III in 2021. The controversy continues to unfold, with Morgan’s actions adding fuel to the already contentious discussions surrounding the royal family.
