FBI recorded the highest upsurge in hate crimes in the USA in a decade in 2019. FBI annual report released on Monday showed that the US surged the highest level in hate crimes more than a decade in 2019 and also recorded the highest number of hate-motivated killings since the FBI began collecting data in the early 1990s.
According to the reports, there were 7,314 hate crimes last year from 7,120 in 2018. Of the 6,406 known offenders, 52.5 % were white and 23.9% were African American. There were 51 hate crimes murders in 2019, which includes people who were killed in a shooting that targeted Mexicans at a Walmart in the border city of El Paso, Texas.
