Founder of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav was cremated in Saifai

Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, was cremated on Tuesday afternoon in his hometown of Saifai, Uttar Pradesh.

The Samajwadi Party founder’s funeral in Saifai was attended by a sizable crowd, with the morning’s intermittent drizzle adding to the melancholy.

The founder of the Samajwadi Party and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh passed away on Monday at the age of 82 in a Gurugram private hospital. Thousands of people came to pay their final respects to “Netaji,” as Yadav was affectionately known, at his “kothi,” where his mortal remains were taken on Monday evening and preserved.

On the morning of October 11, 2022, hundreds of party members and others travelling by bicycles, motorcycles, vehicles, SUVs, and other modes of transportation were making their way to Saifai for the funeral rites.

President Droupadi Murmu called Yadav “Dharti Putra” in her condolence letter on October 10, 2022; this nickname was given to the socialist leader for his rise to political power from the bottom up.

Yadav was incredibly well-liked by the populace because of his ability to connect with them, according to Etawah native Manoj Mishra, who recalled how “Netaji” knew locals by their first names.

Hundreds of people waited outside Yadav’s ‘kothi’ for his farewell darshan as it poured Tuesday morning. A group of six men from the Chunar hamlet in Mirzapur in eastern UP were among them.

“We took an auto from the village to the train station in Mirzapur. After receiving Yadav’s darshan, Babu Nandan Yadav informed PTI that he boarded a train at 11 pm and arrived in Etawah at around 7 am.

In the meantime, there was a lot of security there and a sizable crowd attending the final rituals for Yadav at Saifai.
