Prime Minister Narendra and President Joe Biden Modi committed to continuing to work together and within organisations like the Quad to promote growth in the economy and widen cooperation on their common priorities, according to a White House representative. They spoke about the significance of the U.S.-India strategic technology partnership.
After the announcement of a historic agreement between Boeing and Air India for the latter to purchase more than 200 aircraft from the American aircraft maker, the two presidents spoke on the phone on Tuesday.
In November 2017, the United States, Australia, India, and Japan gave form to the long-delayed proposal to establish the Quad to develop a new strategy to maintain the independence of the important sea routes in the Indo-Pacific, in light of China’s expanding military presence in the strategic region.
Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Vietnam all have territorial claims to portions of the South China Sea, which China claims to be its virtually entire territory. In the South China Sea, Beijing has erected artificial islands and military outposts.
She responded to a question by stating that the White House at this moment has no meetings or trips to announce.
They talked about the historic arrangement for Air India to buy more than 200 Boeing aeroplanes built in the United States, according to the press secretary.
In launching the Boeing-Air India agreement, Vice President Biden stated that he and Prime Minister Modi were looking forward to strengthening the relationship between India and the U.S.
According to a White House statement, “Boeing and Tata Group-owned Air India” have finalised a deal under which the airlines will buy 190 B737 MAX, 20 B787, and 10 B777X for a total of 220 firm orders worth $34 billion at list price.
Customer choices for an extra 50 Boeing 737 MAX and 20 Boeing 787, for a total of 290 aircraft valued at $45.9 billion at the asking price, will also be included in the agreement.
The Air India order ranks second in terms of both the quantity of aircraft purchased and cash value among all sales made by Boeing.
This declaration comes after the U.S.-India collaboration on critical and emerging technology (iCET) was officially launched last month.
The programme aims to increase defence industry collaboration and strategic technological collaboration between the ministries, companies, and institutions of the two nations. The iCET was announced by Mr. Modi and Mr. Biden in May 2022.
