India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury.
Bumrah, 31, sustained back spasms during the fifth and final Test in Australia last month and will not recover in time for the tournament.
Harshit Rana, 23, has been named as his replacement in India’s 15-man squad. Rana made his ODI debut for India against England on February 6 and has taken four wickets in two ODIs against the side led by Jos Buttler.
India have also included leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad, replacing opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chakaravarthy, 33, became India’s second-oldest ODI debutant when he played in the second ODI against England in Cuttack on February 9.
The squad will be captained by Rohit Sharma, with key players like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Shami also included.
The Champions Trophy begins on February 19 and will be held in Pakistan, with India’s group-stage games, a semi-final, and potentially the final taking place in Dubai.
