Georgian prime minister, Giorgi Gakharia’s press office confirmed to the media that he has tested positive for coronavirus. Earlier Gakharia announced through Facebook that he is in self-isolation as one of his bodyguards has tested positive for coronavirus.
The prime minister is well and will continue his treatment from home said his officials.
Georgia, a country in the South Caucasus with a population of 3.7 million has reported a total of 42,579 COVID-19 positive cases and 342 deaths as of Monday.
Georgia economy minister Natia Turnava is also in self-isolation as she contacted an infected employee.
