Former military personnel have unveiled an incident involving a UFO and a US nuclear missile, claiming to have witnessed the event on camera. The occurrence took place on September 15, 1964, during a routine test at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Lieutenant Bob Jacobs and Major Florenze Mansmann, members of the filming team, observed a disc-shaped craft emitting beams of light that disrupted the missile’s functionality.
The witnesses recalled seeing the UFO shortly after the launch, viewing the footage during a classified screening attended by CIA agents. The tape was confiscated, and they were instructed not to divulge the incident. Major Mansmann affirmed the encounter, describing the UFO as a classic disc with a raised bubble and a glowing, rotating lower saucer.
The existence of the footage was confirmed by Luis Elizondo, the former head of the Pentagon’s advanced aerospace threat identification programme (AATIP), who shared the information with a US Senate investigator. The footage depicted the UFO interfering with the missile, engaging the warhead with a luminous beam as it traversed the Pacific Ocean.
Despite circulating for decades, the story garnered renewed attention due to the growing public fascination with UFOs. However, the fate of the footage remains uncertain, with speculation that it was destroyed alongside Elizondo’s files when he resigned from AATIP in 2017.
This revelation sheds light on a mysterious encounter that has captivated UFO enthusiasts and raises questions about the potential ramifications of extraterrestrial activity for national security.
The incident underscores the need for transparency and accountability regarding such encounters, prompting calls for greater disclosure from government agencies.
It also highlights the challenges faced by military personnel in documenting and reporting such incidents, amidst concerns of stigma and reprisal. As public interest in UFOs continues to grow, there is a growing demand for openness and cooperation among government agencies and scientific institutions in studying these phenomena.
The exploration of UFO encounters with nuclear facilities adds a new dimension to the broader discussion surrounding the existence of extraterrestrial life and its potential interactions with humanity. As efforts to investigate and understand these phenomena progress, it is essential to approach the subject with scepticism and scientific rigour while remaining open to the possibility of extraordinary discoveries.
