Mutations in the coronavirus are appearing in Siberia, head of Russia’s consumer health watchdog, Anna Popova said on Tuesday. Popova did not give details on the contagious and deadly nature of coronavirus but said the virus is becoming more deadly.
“We see certain changes….in Siberia which allows us to assume that in this region it is forming its own version with specific mutations,” Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, was quoted as saying by news agencies.
This comes after Russia records the highest number of deaths, 442 fatalities. Nearly 20 Covid-19 lakhs are reported in Russia with 33,931 death tolls.
