Pradheep Manivel, a marketing leader who helped build some of India’s most ambitious digital growth engines, has emerged as one of the most influential voices in modern growth leadership. Recognized among the World Brand Affairs India Leaders 40 Under 40 for 2025, his journey from a mechanical engineering graduate to Senior Group Vice President and Head of Marketing and Growth at Motilal Oswal Financial Services reflects a career defined by reinvention, conviction, and an appetite for tackling complex challenges.

Originally trained as an engineer, Pradheep was fascinated by systems, performance, and problem-solving. However, early in his career, he realized that even the strongest products can fail if people do not clearly understand their value. After completing his MBA, he built his expertise across agencies and startups, working with more than fifteen brands at HiveMinds Madison World before taking on growth-focused roles at Clip and later Groww. His most defining chapter began in 2019 when he joined Groww shortly after the company raised its Series A funding. At the time, Groww was primarily a mutual fund investment platform, with ambitions to expand its offerings and democratize investing for millions of Indians. Pradheep was tasked with building a sustainable growth engine that could scale rapidly without relying on excessive spending.

One of his boldest decisions came when he championed Groww’s first Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign. At a time when investment platforms were largely absent from mainstream sporting events, the campaign, “Yeh Market Sabka Hai,” sought to break the perception that investing was only for experts or wealthy individuals. More than a marketing slogan, it became a statement of inclusivity, encouraging ordinary Indians to participate in financial markets with confidence.

The results were transformative. Over the next few years, Groww evolved from an emerging fintech startup into India’s largest broker by active users. The success reinforced Pradheep’s belief that growth is not about extracting value from users but about improving their lives in measurable ways.

This philosophy extends to leadership as well. He believes the true measure of a leader is how quickly their team members develop the capability to succeed independently. He also challenges the widely held notion that brand building and performance marketing are competing priorities. According to him, both are interconnected components of the same growth engine. Strong brand trust reduces acquisition costs, improves retention, and creates sustainable long-term value.

In 2025, Pradheep embraced a new challenge by joining Motilal Oswal Financial Services. The move represented an opportunity to apply a startup-style growth mindset within a forty-year-old financial institution known for its legacy and long-term approach. For him, the attraction lay in combining entrepreneurial thinking with institutional scale.

Beyond the workplace, Pradheep remains actively involved in motorsport communities across Bangalore and Mumbai, where precision, speed, and performance mirror many of the principles he applies in business. He is also passionate about mentoring early-stage founders, particularly those from non-metropolitan regions, helping them navigate challenges and build sustainable ventures.

Despite receiving industry recognition, including prestigious leadership accolades, Pradheep has never viewed awards as the ultimate measure of success. Instead, he finds fulfillment in seeing greater participation, increased financial confidence, and meaningful behavioral change among the people his work impacts.
