Tulsi Gabbard Revises Iran Nuclear Warning, Warns Weapon Could Be Ready in Weeks

Former U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has warned that Iran could be capable of producing a nuclear weapon “within weeks,” marking a significant shift from her earlier stance.

Back in March, Gabbard testified before Congress that Iran had not resumed building nuclear weapons, though it maintained a large stockpile of enriched uranium. At the time, she said that while the stock was “unprecedented,” there was no evidence of active weaponization.

Her updated warning came following sharp criticism from President Donald Trump, who said Gabbard was mistaken and claimed intelligence showed Iran was dangerously close to developing a bomb. Gabbard has since aligned with Trump’s concerns, stating that U.S. intelligence now suggests Iran is “at the point” of being able to produce a weapon.

The renewed scrutiny comes as tensions escalate between Iran and Israel. Israeli strikes have targeted Iranian military and nuclear sites, with Tehran responding through missile and drone attacks. Iran’s health ministry has confirmed hundreds of deaths in the ongoing conflict.

President Trump has given Tehran a two-week deadline to engage in nuclear negotiations, stating that a decision on possible U.S. involvement in Israeli strikes will be made soon.

Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister has expressed willingness to resume talks but insists dialogue cannot proceed while the country is under attack.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has recently raised alarms about Iran’s stockpile of uranium enriched up to 60%—close to weapons-grade levels. Iran continues to assert its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes.
