VR games that require mental control are useful for stroke patients

A neurotech company named Cogitat is working to create a device that can convert activity in the brain into activities without requiring physical movement.

Simple virtual reality tasks can be completed by only thinking about them while wearing a prototype head gadget.

Thus, without moving your hand or squeezing, you think about it in a game where handles control a VR jet ski.

A similar idea is also being developed by Elon Musk’s company, Neuralink. With the objective of making it possible for those who have had a stroke or other types of brain damage to operating phones or computers remotely.

The Neuralink approach necessitates implanting a chip inside the brain. The company has only ever experimented with animals up until this point, and their behaviour has drawn criticism. “The company also makes videos and makes them public, showing how a monkey performs the video game with its thoughts and a pig with a chip in its head uses its brain.”

Cogitat is owned by Imperial College London computer scientist Dimitrios Adamos and NHS consultant Allan Ponniah. One of the companies is creating a system that operates outside the skull rather than inside it.

Although the technology is still in its infancy, it has already been tested on stroke victims with promising results. By making the workouts more interesting, the goal is to motivate them to continue with the rehabilitation activities.

Cogitat is quickening the calibration process by teaching its technology on a dataset of a large number of individuals who have been testing it out.

Some businesses concentrate on various forms of brain activity, such as visual signals that allow you to concentrate on a number and click keys on a screen. It is also conceivable, though debatable, to focus on more subjective reactions like preferences and dislikes.

Regarding the functioning of the brain, experts are actively learning. It varies from person to person and is unique to each of us. It varies during the day and may be impacted by age, illness, and conditions like fatigue. This means that any technology used to read brain activity must constantly be updated.
