AAP stages protest outside BJP MLA Abhay Verma’s house in east Delhi

Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party protested against local BJP MLA Abhay Verma for reportedly beating a sanitation worker on Friday in Laxmi Nagar.

This occurs one day after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which is governed by the AAP, filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against “unidentified goons having close relations” with Verma for allegedly beating the sanitation worker in east Delhi.

The civic organisation highlighted an allegedly viral video showing a few individuals beating and attacking MCD staff.

Party workers and leaders gathered outside Verma’s house and carried posters while yelling insults at him and the BJP.

The demonstration was organised by AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar, who claimed that Verma attacked the sanitation worker because he belongs to the Dalit community.

The BJP is an organisation of bullies. In this party, a leader’s influence grows in direct proportion to the amount of hooliganism he or she commits. The BJP, which is anti-Dalit and angry at having lost badly to the AAP in the MCD (polls), is targeting sanitation workers. Such goons, in Kumar’s opinion, needed to be immediately expelled from the celebration.

“Due to the BJP’s mismanaged 15-year reign, which caused problems for Delhi residents and sanitation workers, Delhiites expelled the party from the MCD.” We won’t put up with the lawmakers from the BJP acting in such a way. They ought to engage us directly in the election process in their battle against the Aam Aadmi Party rather than picking on other people, he remarked.

Thursday saw Verma’s denial of the accusations levelled against him. He said AAP MLAs were working to damage his reputation.

In the meantime, the Delhi Police filed a police report (FIR) against unknown people for allegedly beating a sanitation worker in east Delhi.

Amrutha Guguloth, DCP for the East, stated, “Based on the complaint we received, we have registered a case under sections 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC against unidentified persons, and an investigation has been taken up.”
