Piers Morgan says his departure from ITV’s Good Morning Britain was a “farce”

Piers Morgan called his controversial exit from ITV’s Good Morning Britain last year a “farce” that “focused everyone’s minds” on free speech.

After the controversy surrounding his remarks regarding the Duchess of Sussex, the broadcaster is about to debut his TV show.

Piers Morgan Uncensored will air in the UK on the new TalkTV channel, as well as in the United States and Australia.

He said ITV was also chastised for “censoring” him. The network has previously stated that it supports freedom of speech.

His remarks resulted in a new high of 58,000 complaints to Ofcom. The objections were later dismissed by the UK media regulator, who stated that restricting his opinions would be a “chilling constraint” on free expression.

According to the 57-year-old, his new TalkTV show will “uncancel people who have been cancelled.”

Morgan’s decision to leave Good Morning Britain was made by Morgan, according to ITV, and the corporation accepted his decision.

Morgan’s show will also air on Fox Nation in the United States and Sky News Australia. TalkTV will debut in the United Kingdom on April 25.

Although Ofcom dismissed the ITV complaints, it did so because Morgan’s opinions were countered by co-hosts who questioned him. After the Duchess of Sussex acknowledged her mental health, the regulator chastised him for his “apparent indifference” to the matter of suicide.

Dame Carolyn McCall, the ITV chief executive, stated in September that the network had “vigorously” defended Morgan to Ofcom and that there was “no way we wouldn’t be completely not just endorsing but championing freedom of speech and expression.”

Morgan even compared himself to Nelson Mandela, the former South African president who served 27 years in prison for his political actions opposing the country’s cruel apartheid regime.

The Talk, a new show hosted by Sharon Osbourne, who departed a rival US talk show named The Talk after defending Morgan on camera, will also air on TalkTV.
